Shah Rukh Khan and his wife recently hit the headlines with the news of the couple having a surrogate child. But even before the good news could be confirmed by the celebrity couple, controversy struck when a certain NGO claimed that the couple had done sex determination test of the child, which is illegal in India. However, clearing the air on the matter, SRK sent out a press statement not only announcing the name of his son but also clarifying that he never did those tests as claimed by certain people. Following is the press statement sent out by SRK...

Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our new-born baby, AbRam.

He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home.

Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for a long time now.

As a family our silence on this subject has been because of the personal nature of emotional strife that we have been going through due to his health.

We wish to make a special mention and thank Dr. Jatin Shah for his expertise and contribution. We also wish to thank all the other doctors, nurses and medical staff who have made his life possible. As trying were the times, we never lost hope that life always brings with it.

Just to put the record straight there was no sex determination for our child. The baby was born much before the speculations of 'sex determination' and other 'issues' pertaining to the same were being raised in the media by some organisations.

Suffice to say his coming home puts to rest completely false and at times insensitive claims of sex determination and alleged illegalities.

We also apologise to all those other doctors and hospitals who had to face unwanted scrutiny and questioning by some parties.

Our son is a surrogate baby and the entire process is bound by strict confidentiality. We would appeal to all, to allow us to cherish this private moment as a family.

It seems unfortunate that I have to explain/clarify so many aspects for our new-born baby. Wish it were just a simple message of happiness on behalf of the family.

They say a baby is God's opinion that the world should go on. Post this statement, I hope we all move on too.

Thank you.

Shah Rukh Khan

Lootera Movie Review

Studio: Balaji Motion Pictures, Phantom Films

Distributed by: Balaji Motion Pictures

Release date: 5 July 2013

As the saying goes, “First Impression is the best Impression”, the first look of Lootera itself made a good impression and there prevails an eagerness to know what the film would be like. Posters and promos show that Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha were made for each other, but in the movie it is not that perfect. There’s young love, heartbreak, longing and closure.

The story is set in 1950’s Manikpur in West Bengal. Pakhi (Sonakshi), a graceful yet playful zamindar’s daughter falls in love with Varun (Ranveer), an archaeologist who wants to dip up her family property. But seeing the real face of Varun, Pakhi and her father is shocked. The lover separates, by chance to reunite in Dalhousie. But that time Varun does not want to turn his back on Pakhi, even if that means risking his life.

Lootera songs have a nice blend with the story and there is no running around the trees dance movement in the snow clad Dalhousie. Giving a feel of watching a Hollywood Classic the background works are excellent.

The story might not work with the younger audience since it was set in 50’s giving the pace of that era. If you like to watch a classic and slow romance then Lootera can be your taste to unfold and invariably have some tragic element.

Policegiri movie review

Cast:Sanjay Dutt, Prachi Desai, Prakash Raj

Director: K S Ravikumar

Produced by: T.P. Aggarwal, Rahul Aggarwal

Written by: Farhad-Sajid (dialogues)

Story by: Hari

Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, Prachi Desai

Music by: Himesh Reshammiya, Meet Bros Anjjan

Cinematography: N. K. Ekambaram

Editing by: Samjith MHD

Distributed by: STAR Entertainment

Release date: 5 July 2013

For a film that is as spectacularly dumb, Policegiri makes far too much noise. The actors holler at the top of their voices, the action sequences are mind-numbingly silly, the background score can pierce through any cotton-wool shield, and the storyline is all sound and fury, and little else.

It is the sort of film in which the stuntmen get more play than any of the principal characters. The latter merely walk in and out of the picture, setting the stage for one violent confrontation after another.

Bodies and vehicles fly through obstructions, but the musclemen who bear the brunt of the action director’s imagination keep multiplying until the time the audience is ready to drop in disgust.

Policegiri is an attempt to cash in on the fact that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is in the news these days. The reasons are wrong in both cases.

A baby boy for SRK and Gauri

BMC officials have received birth report related to SRK third baby who was born on May 27 at Masrani Hospital for Women in Andheri. The child was born at 34 weeks of pregnancy and weighed 1.5kg at birth.

On Tuesday, Bamne told TOI, "We have received from Masrani Nursing Home a birth report, which has to be mandatorily filed by nursing homes and hospitals to register every birth in the city."

There are no official details about the surrogate mother, but some reports in the media had said that Gauri's sister-in-law Namita Chibber may have been the surrogate. Khan family friends said the surrogate mother had already flown back to London.

The couple remained tight-lipped about the entire affair. But, reportedly they are planning a special bash for their baby in July and invitations have already been sent. The couple wants their family as well as close friends to be present to welcome the baby home.

A source said that Gauri did not want to undergo risks of pregnancy at the age of 47 so, they opted for surrogacy.
